Shrug done!

Here she is:

I'm very pleased with it so far. Next step: recalc how many stitches to pick up, based on my gauge and how far around I want it to be attached.

p.s. pardon the crappy tank top. It was a failed attempt at a printable iron-on transfer.

It looks wonderful - I love the 3/4 length sleeves!

I'm really interested to hear how you calculate the number of stitches you're going to pick up for the body.

I'm on my second try with the shrug part (see my previous post) and the size/gauge is sort of wonky, but the fit is much better. I'm going to have to improvise the number of stitches I'll need to pick up and I'd like to know how it goes for you.

Thanks! As for the calculation, here's what I was thinking:

Diam = measurement (around upper ribcage) from one bra stap, around the back, and to the other bra strap [in] (probably measuring this with the shrug on, since the upper edge of the tube top won't be perfectly horizontal; it will probably lift a little in the front where it attaches to the shrug openings.)

(and hooray for bras with wide-set straps!)

gauge = my stitch gauge [st/in]

so the number of stitches I want to pick up is Diam * gauge, centered around the midpoint of the shrug, and picking up along the bottom edge of the shrug, and also the top edge if necessary.
